(ISC)²® North Bay Chapter (NBC) is a Non-profit organization focusing on promoting an interest and growth in the cybersecurity and technical information field. We provide security professionals a platform to collaborate, network and perform community outreach.
The (ISC)²® NBC (North Bay Chapter) is a community dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in the field of Information Security. the North Bay is home to a large segment of the CISOs, CIOs, and CEOs in north CA area. Our mission is to leverage the thought leadership of this community to remove career barriers for minorities & security community in cybersecurity by providing mentorship and coaching programs.
Our Goals & Objectives
Chapter Meetings: Member networking luncheons with guests speakers/corporate sponsors. Cybersecurity topics will be interspersed with HR topics such as diversity hiring, staff retention, etc.
Community Outreach: Working with local organizations such North Marin Community Services to provide career counseling and education to underserved youth.
Mentorship Program: Reducing barriers to InfoSec for women and minorities through the development of mentorship and coaching programs.
School Outreach: Working with local high schools to develop Cybersecurity modules for existing STEM programs to inspire and recruit the next generations of InfoSec professionals
Tech Mock Job Interview:
Establish mid-term programs for membership -- including criteria, regular communication, and recruiting strategies.
Provide guidance around secure slack communication over slack and other avenues
Get a list of volunteers together
Provide career development for individuals interested in the cybersecurity industry
Provide outreach at community events to improve cybersecurity awareness and education in the community
Provide networking events during the (ISC)²® NBC monthly meetings
There is no cost to join (ISC)²® NBC (North Bay Chapter), and the short-term plan is to have no insurable assets. This is to promote growth of the organization and recognize the impact fires and SIP measures have had on the North Bay.
We could assess in the future having a $xx for a annual membership
Communication with membership will use slack. Long term, we may look at sponsorship from security or local area businesses.
